About the Association
In the early 1990s AH, the Geology Department at the College of Science, King Saud University, adopted the idea of establishing a society for geosciences that would include all specialists from universities in the Kingdom and anyone related to geosciences in governmental and private sectors. Subsequently, the Scientific Council at King Saud University approved the establishment of the society on 12/08/1401 AH under the name (The Saudi Society for Geosciences) at King Saud University in Riyadh. The Saudi Society for Geosciences is considered an administratively and financially independent scientific society from King Saud University. Its headquarters is in the Geology Department at the College of Science, King Saud University in Riyadh. The society can establish branches in other locations if necessary.
Since its establishment, the society has been chaired by Dr. Faiz bin Shaaban Annan, Prof. Abdulmalik bin Abdullah Alkhayyat, and Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Turki. Currently, it is chaired by Prof. Abdullah bin Mohammed Saeed Al-Omari.
